Being a jewelry designer in North Shore, MA comes with both its challenges and rewards!
Whereas New Englanders tend to be a bit more conservative in their style, they are also receptive to new trends and deeply appreciate high-quality, handmade items. There is a fine line between how far I can push a client to feel comfortable wearing something a bit more funky than they are accustomed to. However, I have noticed that, little by little, many of them start to stretch their own boundaries as they continue to visit and explore the new designs I’m working on.
It’s truly rewarding to see them come out of their shell, trying larger earrings, bolder designs, and new styles they might not have considered before. When this happens, they seem more confident and energized, excited to experience fashion in a whole new way!
Another aspect of my work that can sometimes present a challenge is incorporating spiritual symbols and gemstone healing properties into my pieces. Although there has been significant growth in acceptance over the past five years, there is still some hesitation among certain clients. Jewelry with meaning is at the heart of what I do, so I make sure to weave it into every creation. The exciting part is that I’m becoming known for it — and now, clients are actively seeking me out specifically for this reason.
One of my favorite things about creating jewelry is the opportunity it gives me to connect with people. It also allows me to support local causes by raising funds through my work. Ruth’s House in Haverhill holds a special place in my heart; I have seen firsthand how they support surrounding neighborhoods and families in need. Sweet Paws Rescue is another cause I’m incredibly passionate about — I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about them!
If doing what I love can help both people and animals, then I feel my mission is accomplished. I am so grateful for all that I receive in return. I truly feel lucky to be a jewelry designer here in North Shore, MA!
